A White House Holiday Celebration

Celebrations

Reflecting upon my trip to the White House Holiday Social in December 2013. I was one of a handful of lifestyle bloggers invited to spend an entire fun-filled day inside the most famous house in America: 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C.

Here are some photos and a video recapping the very busy day spent touring the White House holiday decorations as well as learning from the Presidential executive pastry chef and crafting with the White House chief holiday decorator.

As a life-long animal and dog lover I was particularly charmed by how much the Obama family loves their dogs and how the presence of both their Portuguese Waterdogs, Bo and Sunny, can be felt everywhere here. In fact these creatures have been prominently included in the First Family's holiday celebrations for as long as they've lived in the White House together.

I just loved this floral animated display celebrating the First Dogs...

Aren't these cookies of Bo and Sunny beautiful? These sweets were all designed by the White House Executive Pastry Chef and served to us during an afternoon tea party overlooking the Rose Garden.

Each of us left the White House with gift box with a personalized tag filled with crafts, mementos and cookies that I still have two year later. I will always treasure both these and the memories.

Meanwhile here is the official 2015 Merry Christmas message from the White House to those celebrating from President Obama, First Lady Michelle and Family including First Dogs Bo and Sunny.

FTC Disclosure: I attended the #WHHoliday Social as a guest of the White House and received the official White House Holiday tour book, refreshments, and a gift box of holiday goodies to take home. My travel to Washington, DC was made possible in part through Social Moms. However, opinions and thoughts are my own.
