My mom started it my first christmas 34 years ago. Every thanksgiving we put up our tree and on that night my mom gave me 1 ornament so when i was and adult I had my own special ornaments to hang on my own tree one day. I have kept that going with my 3 year old. This year I would like to start the elf on the shelf and some others since we have our daughter now. But tradition is tradition.
