Celebrations
I couldn't resist sharing the images that just arrived in my email box from Chaya, a mother of many and my good friend, who lives in Israel. These inspiring photos, live from Jerusalem, are of this year's picturesque and exuberant Yom Yerushalayim celebration -- Jerusalem Day -- going on right now. Note: Due to the time difference, this Zionistic holiday doesn't officially start here in the U.S. until tonight at sundown.
From Wikipedia
Jerusalem Day (Hebrew: יום ירושלים, Yom Yerushalayim) is an Israeli national holiday commemorating the reunification of Jerusalem and the establishment of Israeli control over the Old City in June 1967. The Chief Rabbinate of Israel declared Jerusalem Day a minor religious holiday to thank God for victory in the Six-Day War and for answering the 2,000-year-old prayer of "Next Year in Jerusalem".
Celebrating last night (Israel time) in the Old City of Jerusalem...
And waving the Israeli flag in Jerusalem and at the Kotel Western Wailing Wall today...
To all of my fellow Jews around the World
May Yom Yerushalayim bring you much joy!
