In the September 14, 2009 edition of The New York Times, no one one could say it any better. Facebook is changing direction to try and catch up on the social media landscape scene with Twitter, but could risk looking like a 50+ year old mom (like me), trying to look and act like her teenage daughter (that would not be me, I have 2 tween girls but I am most certainly NOT going to start wearing my kids clothes).
Read the well-written NY Times story for another eye opening piece on the evolution of the Internet through the the example of Facebook's new strategy and positioning against their Twitter opponent.
As a long-time member of Facebook and Linkedin, as well as an active mommy blogger on Twitter, I'm wishing Facebook well as they embark on this new phase. It takes guts to step out and try something new and I really admire that. It will definitely be interesting to see how things play out in this social media round.

hee hee You are so funny... REALLY! I didnt know how good you are at that! way to go
ReplyDeleteIt is funny, but sort of sad too, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteIt's rather ironic that the people who aren't using Twitter correctly might actually be more successful if they focused on quality of followers and instead of quantity.
